Apple now updated all of the existing AirPods models with the most recent beta software. The 3rd Gen AirPods, AirPods Pro, and AirPods Max will use firmware version 5A5304a. This will succeeds version 5A5282d. You may receive a firmware upgrade today if you have a set of AirPods and have been using the beta version.

Apple claims the Auto-Switching function, which automatically enables the AirPods to switch among your devices. It is based on the one which is presently playing music and has been improved with firmware version 5A5304a. The update also includes the customary batch of security patches and performance upgrades.

This update is only available to developers who can download version 5A5304a from the Apple Developer website. Since it is a firmware beta, you need an iPhone operating the most recent developer beta of iOS 16. A Mac is running the most recent developer beta of macOS Ventura. And the Xcode 14 beta to install the beta.

For the second and third-generation AirPods, AirPods Pro, and AirPods Max, the most recent beta build is accessible. Apple has never released a beta firmware for the standard AirPods. And the high-end over-the-ear headphones before. Earlier beta versions were only accessible with AirPods Pro.

Steps to Install AirPods beta firmware

  1. From Apple’s Developer site, download the iOSAirPodsProSeed.mobileconfig file to your iPhone.
  2. Whichever device (iPhone or Apple Watch) you wish to install the profile on may be requested of you. Pick iPhone.
  3. On your iPhone, launch the Settings app, then select General.
  4. Click Device Management & VPN.
  5. Tap Install after choosing the AirPods Pro beta firmware file you just downloaded.
  6. Enter the passcode for your iPhone.
